Any relatives of Annie Kellegher born Northumberland 1859. Annie is listed in 1881 as living with her aunt and uncle in Bootle, nr Liverpool but unable to trace her family or addresses in Northumberland prior to this. Would appreciate any help.

There's a distinct shortage of any Kelleghers in the UK censuses all round! And the ones in Scotland were born in Ireland.

The Campbell aunt and uncle were born in Ireland. Their eldest child was born in Northumberland, per the 1881 census.

So here are the aunt and uncle in 1861:

Name: Bernard Campbell
Age: 21
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1840
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Catherine
Gender: Male
Where born: Ireland

Civil Parish: Byker
Ecclesiastical parish: Byker
Town: Newcastle
County/Island: Northumberland
Country: England

Registration district: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Sub-registration district: Byker
ED, institution, or vessel: 4
Household schedule number: 137

Bernard Campbell 21
Catherine Campbell 20

for info, so far.

Here's a similar looking name around that time in Northumberland - the death of a child:

Name: John Kalager
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1861
Year of Registration: 1867
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 6
District: Newcastle Upon Tyne
County: Northumberland, Tyne and Wear
Volume: 10b
Page: 68

The only person who looks like your Annie in the birth index is:

Name: Annie Kellaher
Year of Registration: 1859
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Marylebone (1837-1901)
County: London, Middlesex
Volume: 1a
Page: 457

who in turn looks like this person in 1871:

Name: Annie Keleher
Age: 11
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1860
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: Timothy - born Marylebone
Mother's Name: Ann - born Ireland
Where born: Marylebone

Civil Parish: St Marylebone
Ecclesiastical parish: St Cyprian
County/Island: London
Country: England

Registration district: Marylebone
Sub-registration district: Christchurch
ED, institution, or vessel: 13
Household schedule number: 189

Patrick Flesher 45
Ann Keleher 35
Annie Keleher 11
Catherine Keleher 1 6 months
Edward Keleher 7
Joseph Keleher 5
Thomas Keleher 13
Timothy Keleher 39

This looks like the marriage of that couple -- just trawling around for connections, on the chance that Northumberland as place of birth is simply an error by the aunt and uncle.

Name: Timothy Kelaher
Year of Registration: 1854
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Marylebone (1837-1901)
County: London, Middlesex
Volume: 1a
Page: 826

Here they are in 1861:

Name: Timothy Killahan (that's how the name reads)
Age: 30
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1831
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Ann
Where born: Marylebone, Middlesex, England

Civil Parish: St Marylebone
Town: London
County/Island: Middlesex
Country: England

Registration district: Marylebone
Sub-registration district: Rectory
ED, institution, or vessel: 2
Household schedule number: 217

Ann Killahan 28
Ann Killahan 1
Ellen Killahan 6
Thomas Killahan 3
Timothy Killahan 30

And likely the first one of these would be Timothy's death:

Timothy Kelleher abt 1832 1877 Apr-May-Jun Marylebone (1837-1901) London, Middlesex Timothy Kaleher abt 1835 1875 Jan-Feb-Mar Marylebone (1837-1901) London, Middlesex

And that really looks to me like being the best bet for your Annie!

On the complete other hand, and as I was going to suggest right at the beginning -- the aunt and uncle were born in Ireland; might Annie have been?

In 1901:

Name: Ann Kelechher
Age: 38
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1863
Relation: Head
Gender: Female
Where born: Ireland
Occupation: Cotton Cardroom

Civil Parish: Blackburn
Ecclesiastical parish: St John
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England

Registration district: Blackburn
Sub-registration district: Blackburn, Northern
ED, institution, or vessel: 26
Household schedule number: 109

Catherine Conway 29 - niece
Ann Kelechher 38
Bridget Kelechher 36 - sister

Did Annie marry, and if so, might this be her?

Name: Annie Keleher
Year of Registration: 1906
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Blackburn
County: Lancashire
Volume: 8e
Page: 854

to Thomas Rostron or William Melody.

Births:

George Rostron 1914 Jan-Feb-Mar Keleher Blackburn Lancashire
John J Rostron 1912 Jul-Aug-Sep Keleher Blackburn Lancashire
Thomas Rostron 1915 Oct-Nov-Dec Kelcher Blackburn Lancashire

Duh. Not too likely that Annie born c1860 was having children in 1915 ...

Hi Kathryn, thank you so much for your help. I was at a loss with this one becuase I've only just researched the aunt and uncle (my g-g-grandparents) but because I seem to be the only one searching my family tree I thought I'd give the niece, Annie, a try to trace them back to Newcastle.
Thanks again.....Merry Christmas.
