Looking for William Lewis born in Pontypridd 1917

Last known information was that he was in the Mechant Navy in WW2 . He could have died during the War but cannot find details of death .
Perhaps he survived the war . ??

go to http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp

put the name of the seaman in the top box "word or phrase" in this form Surname Initial ie. Powell D
then in the lowest box "Department or series code"
write BT 372
You'll get a list of all seamen with the surname and place of birth. The date attached to the record is the d.o.b. of the seaman not the registration date. From there you can order the docs for 6pounds 50 for 5 jpegs. They come to your email address within a couple of hours if you order before 13.00
