MY MOTHER LUCY EDITH LONSDALE WAS BORN, KILSYTH 5/02/1924 TO MARY LONSDALE, MARY HAD SISTERS JEAN, RUBY, GRACE AND I THINK TINA. MY MAM WAS BROUGHT UP BY HER GRANDPARENTS BUT I NEVER KNEW THEIR NAMES. ALL I REALLY KNOW ABOUT HER GRANDAD WAS HE WAS A STAUNCH ORANGEMAN, POSSIBLY FROM IRELAND? WHEN MAM WAS AROUND 17 HER GRANMOTHER DIED, SHE LEFT HOME AND WORKED AS A NURSE IN A SANITORIUM LOOKING AFRER PATIENTS WITH TB,AND INCCURABLE ILLNESS, LATER JOINED RAF WHERE SHE MET MY DAD, AND MOVED TO ENGLAND. I BELIEVE RUBY MARRIED HAD A SON CALLED IAN,AND EMIGRATED TO CANADA ONTARIO I THINK, AND I THINK MY GRANDMOTHER MARY MARRIED SOME YEARS AFTER MY MOTHER WAS BORN, TO A WIDOWER WITH CHILDREN I THINK HIS NAME WAS WATSON AYKERS. JEAN MARRIED MAC RUSSELL THERE WAS A SON FRANK THEY LIVED IN A COTTAGE CALLED ROWANTREE, I REMEMBER IT LOOKED DOWN ON THE CANAL. IN KILSYTH. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP.

What is it you are asking for.

Also can you take off your CAP LOC as this post is very difficult to read

Shirley, you need to order Mary's birth certificate from Scotlandspeople. Her birth certificate will give the date and place of her parents marriage.

You also need to Scotlandspeople to find marriages of her siblings. Births after 1910, marriages 1935 and deaths 1960 are not available to view online, you need to order the certificates.

EDIT

Staunch orangemen are not neccessarily Irish - there are quite a lot of them in Scotland!

I have had a quick look on Scotlandspeople- if you buy some credits (£6 for 30 - 1 to view search results and 5 to view / download register entries) you will see the births for Mary and her sisters.

Thorhson is a mistranscription of Thompson. If you look for their marriage on SP, the entry will give their parents names including the Mothers' maiden surnames.

Your were indeed correct - an Irish staunch orangeman, lol

I am looking for any of the relatives of my previous threads so I might be able to find out more about my mams formative years as I know very little
My mam was born 1924 the illegitimate daughter to Mary Allen Lonsdale, I know Mary was a bus conductor at the time. Some 4years later Mary married a widower with two young sons his name was John Wilson Akers they lived in Kilsyth Stirlingshire.

If you don't already have it, your Grandmother's death certificate may show the name and address of a relative if the informant was indeed related.
