I am trying to trace my fathers relatives. he was born 1916 either Liverpool or Ireland. Married Beatrice Maud Morley my mother around 1940 and was divorced at around 1943. He has two daughters myself and Sharman Glen and I believe he has a son from his second marriage. Last know place of work was Wigan Council

Do you have their marriage certificate?

How sure are you of his age?

Thank you for that.I am not sure of his age at all. This could quite possibly be him. Don't have their marriage certificate or any other info except that I was born in Torbridge, Plymton, Plymouth in 1941 during the war of course.

You need this first.

There are a couple of Clifford Lowry's of around that date born in England. The marriage cert would narrow down the age plus give you his father's name (assuming he was not illegitimate):

Clifford Lowry
Spouse Surname: Morley
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1940

Was your mum evacuated during the war? My mother was sent out of London into Surrey when pregnant with my eldest sister (1943).

Hi again, thank you for that and yes I believe they were evacuated. I know that my grandmother just got through before Plymouth Railway station was bombed.

Florence,

There are very few Clifford Lowrys on Ancestry.

I see an obvious 2nd marriage for him in Liverpool and a son born the following year. Will PM the name.

Hi this one is definitely mine but now I need the marriage certificate, I think. Clifford Lowry and Beatrice Maud Morley were married in Cleveland and it would have been 1940 and I think it would be August of that year as I know my mother wasn't pregnant at the time.

Rose, I do think that this could possibly be him thank you for the information.

If you're looking to make contact with the son, I think he's on 192.com

Jean can do lookups. I'll try and find the thread.

Hi to everyone, please can anyone shed some light on this for me. I have the marriage certificae for my mother and father. He was born in 1912 as above. His father was Albert Lowry and he was a tailor. His mother was Florence A Marsden and they were married in Dec 1910.
I cannot trace them at all apart from the marriage and birth of my father. I have tried the 1911 census and cannot find anything at all. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Hello Florence, just to check - would they have been in the Liverpool area in 1911?

Florence

Florence Report 19 Sep 2010 18:20

The birthplace for my father was given as Wigan. My grandmother was born in the Blackburn area. We have no idead were grandfather came from but have always believed that the family were from Liverpool possibly via Ireland.

Could this be them in 1911 as I see they were married in Blackburn?

Wow, how do you do it , you are incredible Anne Marie and Christine in Portugal. Apart from tracing ancestors I really would like to contact any living relatives but don't know how to do this. Thank you for this information I never thought to check the spelling. It is actually Lowry the same as the artist.

MarieCeleste Report 19 Sep 2010 18:33

Florence, when searching the census I just ticked the "include variants" boxes under the names so the search picks up various spellings.

You can find a lot of info on FreeBMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
such as these possible siblings for Clifford:

Thank you ever so much for this information Anne-Marie. My sister can remember that our father had a sister called Millie so I am sure that they must be them. so now they lived in Derby in later life. Where would I look to try and trace living relatives. Have you any ideas please.
