Good evening Minnie and Wayne,

Thank you both for your input...........

Need to confer with my neighbour to see if names, places of birth, etc tie in with his family tree.

Will bounce back to you both and the New Year... have a great one yourselves and enjoy.

Minnie,

By the way, please tell me how and from where you find your information, e.g.

I give you a surname Malthouse and you give me a long list including parish,
registeration district etc,
All I can manage to access is info from an individual birth, marriage or death certificate.

Thanks again for your help,

Joyce

Joyce,

I would say Minnie got the information from the census records. The census information is available on pay to view sites like ancestry.co.uk and findmypast.com except the 1881 census which is free for all to view.

You can also use the Sussex online parish clerks project.... http://www.sussex-opc.org/ ....to find out local parish data or familysearch.org, which is the online Mormon Church site, this also has the IGI data.

There is alot of data freely availble to yourself when researching your tree. If there is anything you require which is on a paid site you don't have access to, there are plenty of people here who can help you!

It is also worth mentioning that Google is your friend, have you tried Googling for the Surnames you are interested in? There is Rootsweb, and Msn Groups these also have collections of people likeminded in Surnames.

We are all here to help each other, but mostly it's nice to be able to help yourself. I find it more exciting being the first to find my data than when someone else finds it for me!

I hope all this helps you,

Wayne

Wayne,

Wow, you have certainly given me lots of websites and leads to work on, thank you very much.

As you say there are so many people on this web site who offer their help and assistance, even though they don't know each other personally.

I have also found the 'tips' site most helpful.

Once again thanks for all you assistance.

Regards

Joyce

Good morning Joan,

Your version of B & B certainly makes more sense than my interpretation of it's sounding.

Will check this out and see if it leads me anywhere.

Thanks for your input and have a good day...

Don't work too hard will you!

Joyce
