Trying to find out about: Mary Widdowson-Leics 1814.
I believe born in Barrow End, Sileby, Leicestershire.

Married a ? Hickling born c1814. & had 3 children: 1835 Joseph, 1837 Mary, 1840 Ellen.

In 1841 census, neither Her husband (name unknown) or Ellen are around. Did they die?

Can anyone please find who she married & when.
AND when did her husband die AND what happened to Ellen
Many thanks

David

Hi Gillian, done a bit of searching found this info:

Mary Widowson married George Hickling 7th June 1835 Sileby Leicester.

Ellen was born Eleanor Hickling in 1839 and christened 24th November 1839, the other two children are also listed. Hope this helps.

Just another bit of info maybe something or nothing: a George Hickling was convicted 4th January 1841, to be transported to Van Dieman's Land, voyage date 4th April 1841, vessel LAYTON, area Leicestershire.

Thanks Folks for all the info.
I have found this so far:

Christening: 20 APR 1813 Saint Mary, Sileby, Leicester, England

1851 census shows Mary, aged 37, living with her two children & brother (head of household) & sister.

The 1841 census, Barrow End, Sileby County,Leics shows Mary is aged 25, (born Leicestershire).
with Her parents Thos (Thomas)? Widdowson aged 65, Ann aged 65 also on the census, Ann aged 30, Rubin aged 25.
The 1841 census also shows 3 children
( Marys)? - Joseph aged 5, Mary aged 3 and Ellen aged 1. Ellen is not on the later 1851 census(died?). -

BUT, Where is Marys husband?

all were born in Leicestershire - pos Barrow?

Van Dieman's Land - thats Tasmania isnt it? What was he convicted of?

Is there any way of finding out which of these george Hicklings is MY George Hickling?

ie would the Death register show his wifes name? and would the Voyage entry show his wifes name - then I would know which is the correct one???
