Hello Paul.My name is Steve Clayton, I live in Camblesforth near Selby. My mothers maiden name is Maw and I did quite a bit of research on the Maw family.I found that my grandfather,Sydney Maw,was born in Goole. His grandfather,William Maw,was born in Goole in 1859.William was born illegitamate, his mother,Elizabeth Maw,came from Rawcliffe.Elizabeth had an older brother called Robert and he was born in Rawcliffe inaround 1833.Robert married Mary and they had at least nine children, the third of which was called Proctor Maw.Proctor was born around 1866 in Rawcliffe,he married Ada Duffin in the summer of 1891.Proctor settled in Goole and became a joiner.Proctor died,in Goole,in 1937,leaving several children-Nellie b.1895,Olive b.1896,Beatrice Lily b.1897,Proctor b.1899 and Harry b. 1901.Hope this has been some use to you, cheers,Steve.
