Member Since: June 2007 Posts: 1 Send Message	Ive searched for History to my family Name and ive heard of the McCarten family motto this is Buailim Se translated this means (I Strike Him). The name McCarten has many modifications since the time in which it was first heard upon. In gaelic it appeared as Mac Artain, Which means Son of Art. It was first found in county down where they held a family seat from ancient times.
