My father was Joseph Frances Steen Tempest McClory! He was the youngest of 7 children and I believe his parents came from Cork but most of them emigrated to the USA. My father was educated in New York but returned to Birtley, County Durham with his mother, Marie, and sister, Monica, when he was 14. He was a regular soldier and then a GP in Newcastle upon Tyne. I know very little about my father's family as his parents died fairly young plus most of the family are in the States and we are not in contact. I know he had a sister, Rose, and a brother, John, in the States. If any of this rings a bell with someone out there, I would love to hear from you. |
