My name is Patricia McDowall - my husband John's father, Leonard emigrated to Canada in April 1948. He arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia and then travelled to the prairies where he had an Uncle. John is uncertain of this Uncle's name - we do know that this Uncle was a McDowall. Leonard was not fond of the weather on the prairies and he left for the West Coast where the weather was very much like he had left in Birkenhead, England. Leonard had an Uncle named Andrew McDowall born October 30, 1865 in Birkenhead. It is believed that he emigrated to America, just where no one is certain. Andrews father was Samuel McDowall born in Scotland 1827; his mother was Agnes McDowall, late McKeggan, formerly Nisbet - she was born in Berwickshire, Scotland about 1826. I would very much like to hear from any person who has any information regarding in particular Andrew and any regarding Samuel and Agnes. Sincerely, Patricia McDowall |
