Hi I'm looking for the story of Hugh McLeod born 1825 Cape Breton Is, Nova Scotia. In 1854 he married Catherine McAulay and in 1859 emigrated to NZ on the Ellen Lewis with 2 or 3 children. In Nova Scotia he was a teacher. I assume his parents were part of the Norman McLeod movement from Scotland to Nova Scotia, since Hugh and Catherine were. Catherine's parents were Murdock Mcaulay and Anne McLean married in Nova Scotia. Murdock's parents were Malcolm Macaulay and Christine McLean who emigrated to Nova Scotia from Uig, North Scotland 1812. I have not been able to name Hugh's parents or identify when they emigrated from Scotland to Nova Scotia ... but assume it was from the Skye area or further north thanks Peter
