Member Since: July 2005 Posts: 3,141 Send Message	Irene (MMN Prothero) born 1920Exeter Devon Anything on Martin Luther Parkhouse who I think was her Father -he Married a Rose Prothero in 1915 Exeter. Can anyone give any other info? Also on a Richard Heal Parkhouse who married Leonora Odam in Exeter in 1903. I think they had a daughter called Leonora but not sure of any others>

	Should be an easy matter to establish who Irene's father was -- http://www.freebmd.org.uk shows the details of her birth registration, on a search for births, surname Parkhouse, mother Prospero, and the birth cert would show the father's name. Similarly, a search for Parkhouse births, mother Odam, shows a Winnifred in 1917. Any children born before 1911 would not have their mother's surname on their records, of course. There were a total of 7 Parkhouse births in Exeter 1903-1911. Some are obviously mutually exclusive, unless there were twins. ;) If you have an address for the 1904 births, and think they might still have been living there in 1911 (or know where they were in 1911), you can apply for access to the 1911 census to get the names of the household members: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/1911census A Leonora whose birthdate matches with the registration date for Leonora Parkhouse died in Devon in 1990: Name: Leonora Mansell Birth Date: 2 Apr 1904 Death Registration Month/Year: Mar 1990 Age at death (estimated): 85 Registration district: Barnstaple Inferred County: Devon Volume: 21 Page: 850 If you were to check the untranscribed GRO images for a Leonora Parkhouse marriage and find she married Mansell, that death cert might tell you something about family. Not many male Mansells were born in Devon around that time. A Thomas and a Samuel born in St Thomas look like the only likely candidates.

	btw, FreeBMD also has the entry for the Parkhouse-Odam marriage, and the birth of Richard Heal Parkhouse in 1880. The birth cert would give you his parents' names, of course. But a very quick check of the 1901 census does settle it all: Name: Martin Luther Parkhouse Age: 6 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1895 Relation: Son Father's Name: William Mother's Name: Ann Gender: Male Where born: Exeter, Devon, England Name: Richard Heal Parkhouse Age: 20 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1881 Relation: Son Father's Name: William Mother's Name: Ann Gender: Male Where born: Exeter, Devon, England Civil Parish: Heavitree Ecclesiastical parish: Heavitree Town: Heavitree County/Island: Devon Country: England Registration district: St Thomas Sub-registration district: Heavitree ED, institution, or vessel: 3 Household schedule number: 85 Ann Parkhouse 48 Charles Parkhouse 18 Edward Parkhouse 16 Helen Parkhouse 9 Martin Luther Parkhouse 6 Richard Heal Parkhouse 20 William Parkhouse 47 ... and then if you check at FreeBMD for a William Parkhouse marrying an Ann in the appropriate place and time ...
