Can anyone help me find any information on Sarah Please? She was born in Chapletown, she married Charles Goddard. She must have died young because when she died her children were brought up by different relatives. |

Yes that is their family, but it seems Sarah was married before she married my great great grandfather |

So who did she marry in 1878? Was she with this man in 1881? It could be that they split up and that legally she could not remarry as her husband was still alive. They may have got around to marrying later on but then she died. I think the death that Cagsie found is quite likely eventhough whoever registered it either got it wrong or perhaps she was registered in her 1st married name? |

Her youngest child John William must have been a few weeks or months old when she died then |

My grandad would have been around 7 which ties up with what I was told because he was brought up by his Aunt, so it seems that death is the correct one |

She called my Grandad Joseph Parkin Goddard, which his middle name is the surname of her first husband if all this is correct. This seems really strange, bet my great grandfather was not at all pleased. |

Have you got the birth certificate for your grandad? If you haven't you may find it will be of great help to you as it should have her maiden name also. |

These are the details you will need if you don't have a copy. |

my dad said he was called Parkin after his mothers maiden name, the only way he could be called after his mother is if he was Elizabeths first husbands child. So who he thought was his mother was actually his grandma |
