Hello! I'm trying to trace back my Powell family and maybe make some contacts. I have tried this before so briefly I have:
William b. 1829 Tolworth Surrey
His sons Maurice Augustus (Somerset), Horace (B'ham) and Clement William (Yardley). Horaces's children Phillip, Clement, Lizzie, Hilda and Kathleen. (All born Birmingham area).

I've now found my gg uncle Clement William living in Edmonton in 1901 with his wife Annie and children Lucy, William, Nora and Augustus (registered Maurice Augustus, named after Clement's brother).
Worth noting that Clement had dropped his 1st name and on the census appears as William. I also suspect that his wife was actually Sarah Ann as I have found a relevant marriage. Also Clement and Augustus seem to be "family" names as they crop up elsewhere.

Was having trouble finding the family after 1871, think this must be the reason why:-

If this is correct then the birth record for Horace is either not the correct one, or, his father was not William.

Catherine - you have come up with some great stuff, thank you. I do know that there is a Kezia Harris in the family, she is sister (or half-sister) of Elizabeth (Horace's wife and my gg grandmother).
I don't think that the Horace born in Leamington is mine. I did find a birth of a Harris Horace Powell, which with his mother's maiden name being Harris made me wonder if it is him. Need the birth cert so will risk it, what's £7 after all!
