thjs might sound niave, but what does the letter c before a date detrmine, thanks anthony kearney also im looking for a james kearney,born in belfast approx 1900 who married a mary quigley, they had children by the names of joseph, james, terry, isabel and mary, they all moved to coventry, any accurate dates on james and mary, i birth death, and marriage greatly appreciated.

Hi

The c before a date stands for the word circa which means approximate/approximately. So c.1900 means around the date of 1900 or approximately 1900.
I unfortunately don't know about your family though.
