I am trying to find any information, wifes maiden name, siblings etc of Christopher Rentall bc1782 dApril 1832 at the workhouse Bermondsey London.
He was the son of Christopher Rentle and Elizabeth Brown who married in 1780 at Chelmsford Essex.
He was my 3xg grandfather.
He had 5 children and his wifes first name was Anne bc1789 d1827 also Bermondsey.
Christopher was a Soldier/Sailmaker/Tentmaker,
Any help would be gratefully recieved as this is a real brick wall.
Cheers Pat

Are there any siblings of Christopher who may have lived passed the golden 1837 date and may have remarried thus giving a fathers name and occupation on their marriage cert??

Hi Pat & Paul
About 12 years ago I did some research into the Rentall family.
Going through some old paperwork I have found a baptism for Henry James Rentall on Jan 24th 1819 at Finchingfield parents Christopher and Ann, father's occupation soldier.

This is a possible baptism for Christopher son of Christopher and Elizabeth on March 28th 1784 at Springfield (near Chelmsford) although the surname is given as Relton.

I have also found these baptisms at Waltham Holy Cross (Waltham Abbey)
James son of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised June 22nd 1788.
Henry son of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised Feb 31st 1790
Elizabeth dau of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised July 7th 1792
Sarah dau of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised June 28th 1795
John son of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised July 30th 1797 and buried 22nd October 1797
Rebecca dau of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised March 24th 1799
Eliza dau of Christopher and Elizabeth Rentall baptised Sept 4th 1801.
I am sure that I can find other bits of info for you but I will need time to read through my notes and refresh my memory.
Best wishes
Maureen

Hi Maureen
Thank you so very much for this info as the early Rentalls however spelt have been a real problem for so long. Then I think to put it on the board and lo and behold along comes the answer.
Thank you once again.
Any further information would be very gratefully received.
Are you sure about John Rentall b1797 d1797 as there is a John Rentall on the 1841 Census?
If you send me a message I will open my tree for you
Cheers and good hunting
Pat
