Help if you can! Trying to find family for James William Russell Born 1830 (Census info) Died age 40 in 1872. Whtechapel Mar 1872 Marriage 1: to Emma Sabine Oct 25th 1849(She died in 1862) Marriage 2: to Jane Skeggs 4.8.1863 in St. Marys, Whitechapel. Father of James: George Occupation Lighterman. James also was a Lighterman The family were lightermen in the Westminster area. Certifficates for Thames lightermen, (from the Guildhall) called Binding - this would be like an apprenticeship and would be for 7 years. James and George, both gained their freedom - meaning they were qualified. I hope to trace back further with the Russells. Perhaps you can help? Thanks Rose |
