The Name SCHOLZ is Prussian,The name is traceable to the Old Germanic personal name 'Schulzen'. It can also be traced back to the Middle High German term - ' Schultheisse ' which means 'A MAYOR' An early record of this name occurs in the ' Urkundenbuch der Stadt Strassburg' one ' Rudolfus Scholzelinus registered in 1226. Others known are the ,Philologist Christian Scholz ( 1697-1777 ), Actress Edmunda Scholz, born in 1753, The Auther Joseph Heinrich Scholz (1773-1811 ) and a Physician Adolf Heinrich Wilhelm von Scholz born in 1833. Scholz also has its own Beazon of Arms called ' The Star of Arms. ( Azure ,a rock issuing from the sea surmounted by a star ) A rock surronded by sea.
