hi im trying to find the military record of william john smith, could be army or navy,born 1866 died 1900 ,has conections with ports mouth uk, married elizabeth cheveralls from weymouth dorset, he may have met her when his ship docked at portland which is near weymouth,icant find him in the census 1881 or 1891, he may have been at sea , any ideas please alan.

thanks vivvie,that sounds like our man, i think he died before 1900 only 34 yo, wonder if he died on active service? regards alan.

hi can anyone please find out how and when he died as i know his wife was a widow in 1900
