Find Ancestors

I'm trying to find any information on Walter James Smith, married to Gertrude Harriet (born 1881) they had 3 sons, one also named Walter(1902 my granddad) George(1905) and Tom(1907) and 3 daughters Beatrice(1900) Pansey(1904) and Lily(1910) living in Harwich Essex for both 1911 and 1901 census but Walter snr not mentioned in either census. Also a long shot but anyone with Smith May or Fenner in the Harwich area would appreciate any help you can give me, thanks in advance

Their marriage certificate should give you, at least, their fathers names

Hello Donna, do you know what his occupation was. With Harwich being a port he might have worked on the boats & been away at the time of the census. I also have Smiths in my family (Colchester) so know what a pain they can sometimes be! Good luck Diane

Gertrude wrote his name in on the census form..age 32 away at sea born Harwich.
