Trying to find Stansfield

My grandfather was John Stansfield born in Ashton-under-Lyne 1892. He married Alice Ann Rothwell in 1913 and had 6 children with her of whom 3 survived to adulthood. He and my grandma separated on a number of occasions because he had a roving eye but the final separation was around 1930 at which time he went to live with a lady by the name of (I believe) Betty. They lived in Stalybridge and that is where he is buried and I was told that he had 4 children with her but she then married someone else (life is complicated!). One of them came to see my mum where she worked evenings at the Tontine public house in Ashton. She was called Winnie. I wonder if there are any members with whom this rings a bell. My mum sent them away because she was always very bitter about things. |
