hi everyone.im really struggling to find the birth of my g grandfather robert stapleton in 1858 he states in his army record that last birthday he was 19yrs born in oakham in the parish of greetham,rutland.i have managed to obtain his marriage certificate through a researcher his marriage certificate where he states his father as john stapleton occupation a baker.searched bmd not there,where his father was born unknown can find no trace,they really are a mystery.can anyone help please.regards ruth |

Probably the same Robert in 1841. 1841 doesn't give relationships or marital status, so can't tell whose child he is. This is the only Stapleton family in Greetham in 1841 |

hi potty, only age given on marriage cert given as full age,the only census i am fairly certain about is the workhouse and aldershot,he joined the army in 1858,pensioned out indublin in 1879 given age 40yrsi wonder whether to order death cert for john and see.thanks for helping it is appriciated.regards ruth |
