Hi my name is Kathy Immens, I'm trying to find information on my grandfather James Henry Stevens, born in Melbourne 12th May 1885? he was placed in an orphanage at about 3 years of age. His mother was German, name unknown, an apparent alcoholic. No information on his father whose surname was Stevens. James had a sister also in the orphanage, name unknown. James left the orphanage at 16 and got a job working for a Chinese market gardener. Later on he was a mail contractor. He went back to the orphanage to see his sister but they wouldn't let him see her and lost all contact. James married Ethel May Mahon, they had 3 children, Dulcie, Marjorie(my mum) and Jack, they lived in Corryong Victoria. Any information much appreciated. |
