Trying to find Stroud

I have established that my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather was a Charles Stroud born abt 1820 in Chatham in Kent. He moved from there to Warwickshire where he married an Ann Isaac in 1843. Charles's father on his marriage certificate was a Stephen Stroud - a soldier as his occupation. Charles came to the Midlands as a Railway Clerk, living in Aston and Edgbaston for the remainder of his life. I have no further information about his family whom I presume he left behind in Chatham. 1. Does anyone have any connections/family links to any Strouds from the Chatham area of Kent. 2. Does anyone know where the records would be kept of Charles's birth if born in Chatham in Kent? Is there a main records office for the area? Look forward to hearing from anyone. Many thanks, Donna
