Nolly could also be short for Oliver - Nolly was a nickname for Oliver Cromwell, I think

I have heard that nolly is a shortened version of oliver so thought maybe olivia too?still haven't got one and the only clue I have is the telegram was from auntie nolly(so def a female:) )and it's sent from ringwold which I googled and found out it's between Walmer and Dover on the Kent coast

Talking of strange names I also have a auntie cherry who was really Rose,Uncle Johnny who was Reuben,Uncle Mac real name Horace!a Auntie Eileen who was really Irene and a great grandfather who couldn't decide if his name was George or William(cost me lots of money with certs)and on the census returns used his wife's and children's middle names took me ages to sort that one out.So why am i surprised to find a nolly!!! hehe
No Irish links with my family at all sadly
