Hi all I am going crazy and really could do with some better brain than mine I have got so confused with this. I have searched till I am unable to ditinguish letters lol. I have found Mary A Wood on 1851 and 1871 census (wales) B.abt.1850 Newport,Mon. and res. on both census at same place, however I cannot for the life of me get the image up to view it. I have been on Ancestry and no matter what image I try to view form the search results,I am unable to open and view. I just get an error message and it shuts down? What am I doing wrong? thats the first thing I need help with please!!! and then secondly to try to pin down my elusive Mary A Woods. I did see a Mary A Woods on another census and she was `servantĀ¬ so perhaps that is why I haven`t been able to find her on the 1861 census ?? what do you think? I`ve got so many ifs buts etc going on in my head...please can anyone help me to unravel this.? I am posting this now but will be unable to communicate with anyone until this evening, but thought if There were any who might have the time and inclination,it would be a head start. thankyou for reading this and hope you can help cathy

Hi Deb.Ivy and Margaret firstly i aplogise for being so long getting back on line, crashed computor last night/early morning. All seems ok now though. Now it seems that you are all hitting the same problems I have been regarding Mary. The birth certificate for their son Charles( james wood) Nicholas ( b.1872 - newport, monmouth) is where I got their names, because I had got the wrong parents on my initial `tree`. I have not been able to find them on a census together at all so am open to any ideas as to what may have been the circumstances. Charles moved to the midlands, possibly when he married Minnie,as she was from Dennis Park,Staffs. But I have no idea if James and Mary Ann moved too. thankyou all for taking the time to try to help me with this cathy

There is this death registration in Monmouthshire, but looks a bit too early to be the one you are looking for:
Name: James Nicholas Estimated Birth Year: abt 1844 Year of Registration: 1872 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar Age at Death: 28 District: Newport M County: Glamorgan, Gwent, Monmouthshire Volume: 11a Page: 149
(the other five are babies or old men)

Hi Catherine,
The 1871 census for Monmouthshire has 12 people named James Nicholas; 8 sons, 2 lodgers and a couple of older ones, both married to a Rachel.
There are only three people named Mary Ann Nicholas, all daughters too young to have children.
Might the parents have died between marriage and the 1871 census?

Hi Cathy,
I can't see it. There's a few James' who married Mary Ann's but not Hood/Wood. Was she old enough to have been married previously?
Deb:)
