I googled for Polly and what it was sometimes a nickname for and found this!!!!!!!

"It used to be a common nickname for girls named Mary in the 18th and 19th centuries. There were quite a few nicknames for girls named Mary because it was such a common name - Mollie, Mamie, Mimi and Minnie are some of them"

have searched Ancestry from 1919-1925 inc and not found Lilian Sargent reg distirct Leigh.

Got to break off now as Lunch needs to be prepared, will look in a bit later to see how this is doing.

I havent found Lilian up to 1929, cant see how to go any further. it may well be the surname has been spelt differently along the way. ie Sergent/sergeant/sargeant/ etc.

Just looking through & saw ref to Polly being nickname, Try Pauline as this is shortened to Polly
