You might not have asked for anyone to post the info you already had but how are we supposed to know that you already had the information on another thread.

A lot of information has to be posted to help sort out a lookup especially when the poster misses out vital information.

If you are sure that you have the correct information back this far then this is the marriage that you were after.

England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index: 1837-1983
about Louisa Lucas
Name: Louisa Lucas
Year of Registration: 1862
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Marylebone (1837-1901)
County: London, Middlesex
Volume: 1a
Page: 911

Note this may not be her first marriage therefore may not be her maiden name, I don't know

Reggie
I see your point but i think ist good sense to have as much info as I can get berfe I have the facts,
In anyother postings I posted I recieved lots of good info but no one could find a marrige I was after nor could I. I did not know louise gardiner was nee lucas as a fact only on info people had posted and on this info and lots of searchs in the name of lucas/gardiner I could not find the marriage thats thy I asked for help.I did not ask for anyone to post the info already gathered in the ttf forum,

i think there is a bit of miss understanding on both parts here and I do apologies for so called time wasting may be it but we all have to start some where and not every one is up to the etiquette of a forum they have never used before

Yes Mike, GR is a place where you can get help.....but you have to understand that asking for the same info on different boards is considered poor etiquette.

I haven't looked at your other thread, but it seems that you were advised to purchase certs in order to ascertain some facts..........until you do so, you really can't hope to make progress.

You cannot research your family history on guesswork..............every stage of it has to be backed up with documentation.

And, in the end, it's your family, and you have to do the bulk of the research........

Mike would it not have been extremely easy & logical for you to say that you knew another surname was involved?

You post suggests that you are using Ancestry on a pay per view basis, this is very expensive. It's far cheaper to pay for annual subscription which will cost you about £64 a year. Alternatively you may find that your local library have Ancestry on their computers which you can use without charge

BMD's can be looked on the FreeBMD website

Certs can be ordered from the GRO at £7 a time

Contrary to belief this is not a free hobby, in fact it can work out very expensive.

Mike,

Members are willing to help with queries but it does help us if you give all the information from the start.

I do not like helping when information has already been found on another thread.

I quote
"Mike most of this was a complete waste of our time. It was work already done for you by some kind people on TTF. Had you passed this info on, you would have saved us all a load of effort "

.In my original thread I asked for help to find the marrage between henry hughes and a louise gardiner, which I could not find . I thought this was a help room as I do not have the resorses or the money to search countless census`s thats why I joined genesreunited maybe I was wrong.

At the end of the day the answer is clear, you need to invest in some certs if you are ever to get to the bottom of this

I thought the poster would know the maiden name...............

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 29 Mar 2008 15:31

Reg, I don't think we've been able to determine what her maiden name was. On the 61 census she's the widow Gardiner and her children were Gardiner but those same childrens' births were registered Lucas. The following year she married as Lucas. Her daughter Eliza Louisa's birth was registerd as Lucas but Gardiner at her marriage.

Was Gardiner her maiden name?

If so, she would have re-married using her married name.....was that Lucas?
