Will check marriage certificate for age but on the piece of paper my great aunt left it says born 1840, off hand I think it says 22 April.

How old was George on his 1886 marriage cert?

I cant even see any Marriages in Essex around 1873!

I do love a puzzle but this is a headache!!...and i hate something beating me...

do you have him on census and what is his dob ?

That is what I am worried about because I can't find a relevant marriage so have absolutely no idea where to go from here.

Maybe George Alfred was born before the 1st Marriage?...reg under 1st wifes maiden name?

My GGrandfather married Harriet Bould, nee Merricks in 1886 as follows

BOULD Harriet Birmingham.6d 223 1 1886

GROVES Annie Birmingham.6d 223 1 1886

GROVES George Birmingham.6d 223 1 1886

HASTILOW Samuel Birmingham.6d 223 1 1886

However, on the marriage certificate it says widowed and he did have a son called

George Alfred Groves born 8th Jan1873 (according to info written down by my great aunt) to his 1st wife althougth no birth certificate has been found. Neither has the 1st marriage certificate. George was born in Lambourne Essex.

Any ideas out there?
