Thanks Joan. That is her as she had an elder sister called Caroline and I have the name Gitted in my notes although I have just checked the BMD and he is down as Giltro.

I wonder where the other children went after the parents deaths.

Is there a possible connection to the Gitted family?

Thanks Joan. I have just found Ida's year of death 1927 so I will check the records and see if she is registered as Ida. (info came from someone)

I have now realised that there were 5 children aged 17 down to 2 years of age left without parents. How awful.

Several death records for an Emily Abbott, but still not Ada/Ida Abbott.

Joan, thanks for that. I have just checked my records and although I gave his birth year, I didn't actually notice that he died in 1854 as did his wife, a year after their 2nd youngest daughter died aged 3.

I have got so engrossed in this tree and it isn't even mine! I am doing it as birthday present for a friend.

I haven't got access to 1861 census so I haven't looked.

Her parents were Charles Abbott b Middlesex 1808 and Emily Durrant born c 1814.
