Joyce

Just a tip

ages on the 1841 are not accurate for adults, they are rounded to closest 5. So don't take the age of anyone except children as true.

Also, our ancestors often didn't know how old they were!

Did you actually check the image of the 1841 Census ................. it could simply be that the transcriber misread the 7 as a 1

Hi Tracey
I have just picked up your various messages on Genes Reunited Trying to find. I am also looking for the Fullers since John Henry's mother was my Great Grandmother(Selina nee Dowse). I have become stuck and cannot get backwards from John Fuller(John Henrys father) He was born in Oxford and according to his marriage certificate his fathers name was Benjamin occupation gardener. I have fou nd a Benjamin (also a gardener) with a son John in the 1841 census but it gives Johns age as 11 when he would have been 17. It sounds as though we have common ancestors and I wonder whether you can shed any light on my mystery.
Kind regards
Joyce

Hi Tracy

Tracy

It is indeed!

We will be in the UK next month, and will bestaying with those ex-Bracknell residents down in sunny Zummerset!

BTW, re how Barbara found the Gullers

....... I'm guessing that what she used was Sophia, b. 1890 +/- 2 years, place or county of birth, father's forename and mother's forename, and then just searched the list of names that resulted.

At least that is the way I would ahve done it!!

Sylvia and Barbara

Thank you so much for all your help in solving my mystery!!

Barbara, however did you manage to find my Fullers when they were on the census under a completely different name ? Genius.

Sylvia, fancy you knowing Bracknell, it's a small world isn't it.

Tracy

I wondered if you were having a late night ... or on another continent like me!! I happen to know Bracknell, we used to have some friends who lived there, and we stayed with them several times before they moved some years ago.

Glad that I could help.

I think some of our ancestors really really tried to hide themselves, just to make it difficult for us!!

Hi Sylvia

I'm in Bracknell, Berkshire, England, a small town southwest of London. I went to bed at 4.20am this morning and am now knackered!!
Finding those elusive Fullers completed that family line so thanks very much for all your help.

Hi Tracy

Name Age
Frederick Fuller 13 Errand Boy
Henry Fuller 16
Selina Fuller 49 Needlework
Selina B Fuller 13 Art Flower Maker
William Fuller 11 Scholar

That use of initials only crops up every now and again ..... it's often worth using just the surname, birth year and birth county to see if it brings up something like this. I've seen it hapen a number of times!

It's almost 8:30 pm here on the West Coast.

Where are you?

I'm glad I could help!

Sylvia

I think you've got them! John/ Henry's mum was Selina.
I've got that same family from the 1861 census. I wonder why it's all in initials apart from Head of house? I haven't seen that before.
Anyway, the initials do fit with the names on this entry for 1871 don't they.
Yahoo! I think that's them,.
Thank you so much for your help Sylvia.
What time is it in Canada?

so now we just need to find him in 1871 when he would be about 16, and probably not married.

Could this be his marriage, from www.freebmd.org.uk??

Field Mary Islington 1b 321
Fuller John Henry Islington 1b 321
