Apologies Elizabeth for my late response. Many thanks for giving me this additional information on the CATERs. Looks like I am going to have to back track on this one.

I appreciate your assistance
bye Helen

Helen,
There are only 12 CATER children baptised between 1813-1841 in the index and the only Mary Ann is the one Linda has given you.

I cannot see a reference to a Charles Cater in any of the Indexes

Henry and Rebecca married at Portsea St Mary 14 November 1803
Henry Cater & Rebecca WHEELER.

As well as Mary Ann they had:-
Margaret Ann-07 Mar 1820
Rebecca-17 Aug 1823
John-09 Jul 1828

There were probably more children between 1803-1813!!

Rebecca was buried 18 Jan 1829 age 45.

There are not many CATERs in the Hampshire Indexes and I checked the CARTERs as well-just in case!!

Hi Liz,

Sorry I cannot find anything else on William.

I found this though...possible a sister for William if the father John is the same..just to confuse you even more lol.

Name Susan d of John Sainsbury buried 7 Dec 1812 age 14 Parish Kimpton.

I did see that Emily married a John Snook 27/07/1839 Kimpton. George and Caroline are living with them in 1851 in Kimpton...but you probably know this already lol.

I do apologise-a senior moment ++

It was Caroline who was baptised on the 28 October 1832-NOT-a William.so no twins!

I have the Hampshire Buriel Index 1400-1837
Marriage Index-1754-1837
Baptism Index-1813-1841.

I beleive the HFHS are currently working on the 1754-1812 Baptism Index

Hi again
I have just realised I have a Caroline Sainsbury baptised 28th October 1832, 5 days after the William Sainsbury you found. William must be a twin. He doesn't appear to survive as I have no record of him. Is there any trace of Caroline in your records? Burial for William?

Thanks yet again!

Oops. I just realised Susannah probably died in 1796. So I guess she isnt the mother!

Hi Bet and Linda

Thanks for all the info!

I did have the marriage of William - thanks. I can't find his baptism in Kimpton though. Based on the burial records he was born around 1805.I guess he could have been born in another county. His parents could be John and Susannah. How could I find this out? Any ideas?

You have the only 2 Sainsburys buried at Kimpton.

Do you have William's marriage?
Is this it?

18 February 1830 at Kimpton
William Sainsbury & Emily Hunt

Baptised at Kimpton
17 Oct 1830-George Sainsbury s William & Emily
23 Oct 1832-William Sainsbury s William & Emily

There is one other marriage between 1813 and 1837 at Kimpton
01 February 1817
John Sainsbury & Susan Tubb

This earlier marriage at Kimpton also:-
14 October 1793
John Sainsbury & Susannah Kill

There is a George and Sarah Sainsbury baptising children at Weyhill, which is quite close to Kimpton, between 1813-1837.

Hi there.

I'm trying to trace a William Sainsbury who I think died sometime between 1831 and 1836 in Hampshire - possibly Kimpton. Can anyone help me?

Here's hoping!

Liz
