any idea when Louisa and Alfred married, I had a quick look and couldn't find it?

Any chance she told a fib about her age on the marriage certificate, so that she was over 21?

Did she have a middle name? If so, could her names have been transposed?

I have the rest of the tree going back further than Louisa though

It's just a huge puzzle for mum and myself as she obviously remembers her grandmother and she only died in 1981 and we got her marriage cert today, we have just never been able to find a birth certificate or her on the census!

I presume that to get married and claim a pension you need an appropriate birth certificate??

Been bashing at this for what seems forever and nothing ever happens! (Sob!)

sorry, Maud died in 1900 from Measles so i guess she was either in a hospital or had already died at the census point.

sorry, Maud appears to be missing from the first census as well.

Amy 1891 but she died in 1894
Elizabeth 1893, Alfred 1894, Maud 1895 and Harriett 1896, all in Poplar.

There were two younger brothers as well, John 1902 and Charles 1903.

It's only Louisa that poses the problem!

When were the other children born? There is an Alfred there age one month and Louisa age 1, Louisa born Dec 1899 would only have been one when the census was taken.

Thanks but what about the other children: Elizabeth, Alfred, Harriett and Maud?
I have Louisa's marriage certificate and it states she was 22 on 28th October 1922 so obviously born 1899?

Am i missing something here?

very confusing though, my great grandmother, Louisa Brown was apparently born 9 december 1899 in London to Alfred and Louisa yet she doesn't appear??!!
and i can't find a def birth record either!

Can some-one please look-up the 1901 census for me and post what it says about this family:

Harriett Brown, born Poplar, 1896
Parents were Alfred and Louisa Brown (both born in London around 1868)
Other siblings names are believed to be Amy, Elizabeth, Alfred, Maud and Louisa.

Think Alfred Snr may have been a labourer and most certainly were living in the East end of london.
