Hi Jo

Looking for births of Jane Adams 1850(+/-1) and William Adams 1852(+/-1) in Queensland.

Parents were William Adams (b.1823, Newton, Scotland) and Allison (Dixon) Adams (b.1824, Edinburgh, Scotland).

Jane and William were born either in Dalkeith, Scotland or in Queensland (or somewhere in between).

Thanks
Alistair

Do you have parents names for richard?

Jo

Jo Report 11 Jul 2008 10:29

Helen

James Dallas B 1868
Father: Donald Dallas
Mother: Annie Crosbie King
Ref: 1868/B8475 QLD BMD

Williamina Jessie B 1866
Father Donald Dallas
Mother: Annie Crosbie King
Ref: 1866/B4790 QLD BMD

I couldn't find any details for the other children, sorry. Is it possible that the others were not born in QLD?

I did find this death cert also:

Margaret Dallas D 1884 Age 25 years. Parents unknown.
Ref: 1884/M2481 QLD BMD
This would make her born in 1859/60.

The only richard maguire died in 1968 tenterfield (middle name thomas), parents margaret and james maguire.
Ref: 36046/1968 QLD BMD. It is possible that james was a transcriber's error. The available death cert search only allows up until 1977. Is it possible that he died after this?

Thanks for the information Jo!

These are definitely the right parents as it mentions Annie King's middle name...Crosbie.

After the father, Donald died in 1867, the rest of the family came back to Scotland and on the census returns it states the children were all born in Queensland.

Maybe Johanna's name was recorded as Joanna?
and Ann..Anne...Annie?

I didn't know about Williamina Jessie..thanks for that.
She doesn't appear in the census...maybe she died in Australia.

Not sure about the death of Margaret Dallas although the birth years given would be about right.

Thanks
Helen

The only dallas' recorded are these two. Perhaps it was a transcriber's error, and the last names were spelt incorrectly. I have tried as many variations of spelling that I can think of, and nothing has come up.

I did find this though:
Death cert for Williamina Jessie Dallas 1867
Parents Donald Dallas and Ann Crosbie King
Ref: 1867/B4008.
Hope this helps, cheers

There are 4 possiblities for richard in NSW. Without the parents name it would be difficult to guess which one. If you like I can list them for you if you wanted to investigate them further :)
