Thanks you two - you are both brill! I work just near Manchester Town Hall so am going to go down there in the next few days - I will keep you posted! Am so intrigued now.

i don't know how you did that!

Do you have any tips for a novice to find births, marriages and deaths? I don't know where to start! I have viewed lots of censuses now and have got into that side of things, but have gone back to 1841 now and can't go any further - no more censuses left! :(

Thanks a million for your help!

Kids do have Collins as surname, Ryan as Mother's maiden name.

seems a big gap to have triplets when your youngest is 10.

so you understand what nikki is meaning- those 3 births all appear on the same page, Collins births all with mothers maiden name Ryan

each cert will cost £7 - you cant just look at them & see the facts ( be great if you could) the certs will tell you - but not without buying them

Oh my god nicki I spent to long writing a reply that I have only just seen your message! ha ha! I'm not up to speed with this family tree business yet!

Well that does tie up - the triplets' mum was Mary Ryan, but would she not have been married to John Collins at this point and therefore would the kids not be Collinses?

I can't believe you did all that so quickly! Do I take those reference numbers to the Town Hall now to find the birth cert so I know its definitely them? Will their birth certificate show me who their parents were?

Thanks so much for your help! This is so interesting - family trees are like detective work! :)

Hi Minnie

Thanks so much for responding! I'm sorry if I wasn't clear:

The parents were:
David Collins (b1883)and Mary Collins (nee Ryan) (b1894 - I have no idea when they married)

The children were:
John Collins b1900
Robert Collins b1902
Edward Collins b1910
Mary Collins b1913
Nellie Collins c1916
the Triplets c1926

I don't know much else, but apparently Nelli dies in a fire at 5 years old.

Thanks

Katie

Hi,

I have recently started researching my family tree on behalf of my Nanna. She tells me that her father (Robert Collins, b1902, married Catherine Scott who was b1903, both of Ancoats, Manchester) was one of eight children (parents David Collins b1883, married Mary Ryan b1894approx).

Three of the eight children were apparently triplets, born and died in approx 1926 (again, lived in Ancoats, Manchester). These triplets received the Royal bounty, which she tells me was very rare and only given to parents of triplets/quadruplets born alive. She does not know the names of these triplets - is there anyone who can help me find their names/DOB/Date of Death or any info at all about them?

Or is there a list anywhere containing the recipients' names of the Royal Bounty I can get access to in order to find what happened to/the names of these triplets?

If you need access to my tree to help with this or any further info, please let me know, I'm struggling! I'm new to this and so far have only mastered using censuses!

Thanks

Katie
