Hi...sorry, internet went down. :{

I, too, have trouble sleeping. In my case, I'm at least the third female generation to have problems. Now getting about 3 hours of sleep a night. I'm always tired. My older niece also has trouble sleeping.

I knew about Ellen's death, as I have a copy of the burial entry, but I didn't know which church, so thank you!!

I said thank you so many times but I can't think of another way of showing my appreciation. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough. I truly, truly appreciate the time and trouble and I'm so thrilled with all that you have found. The Vaus family is my second most treasured ancestors so this means a lot. Can't wait to google Percy Smith and see if I can find out anything about him! ;)

Lastly, Maria (Vaux) is found on the 1881 census, living with her sister Caroline in Shiere Vil, Surrey. They either used the family's old spelling of the name (Vaux), or it was a typo. Now we know where she was in 1901 and you're right, it does tie everything up nicely.

I hope you have a good night's sleep when you are ready to retire for the night. Thank you again.

Hi Lisa

You're very welcome, it's been fun :-)

I was just looking back and saw the additional info on Frederick, how sad but perhaps sadder as he may have only been 17, I found this death entry and it fits with his birth and is the same cemetery as the others.

Lost, if you come back to this thread eventually...

Referencing your entry from 22:28 today...could the Princess be named Daisy? It appears that Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster, was married to (his first marriage) Constance Edwina (Shelagh) Cornwallis-West. Her sister was Daisy Princess von Pless. Daisy was married to Hans Heinrich XV, Prince of Pless, Count of Hochberg, Baron of Furstenstein.

Hi Lisa

Yes that's very possible. The wifes name is definitely Constance. Just had another look at the image and it does look like Pless.

Have sent you a PM :-)

Lost, I was rereading your information again. I missed seeing the post regarding Frederick earlier tonight.

I know a few of the family members were buried in Shipley, Sussex (have a photo of one headstone), but I didn't know where the others were buried in Surrey. Thank you for the information. I may try writing to the church to see if I can obtain additional information.

Hi Lisa

These are all the Vaus burials on FindMyPast for Sussex. They are from parish records (not the NBI) and don't give as much detail. If you'd like details of any let me know.

Hi Lost:

As we've discussed, Vaus is an unusual name. I believe all but three of the names are my ancestors, or their siblings. The other three (Cornelius, Cyril and I believe Joseph) are from a distant cousin's side. When you have the time, I would love to see what is written about them.

I do have (bad) photocopies of Betty Vaus' burial entry and I believe her husband, William Vaus.

Actually, I don't believe I know who Ann and Anna were. I am very interested in them!

Once again, when it is convenient, I would love to find out what the records show. Thank you!
