I am really struggling to find anything on Charles Goldspink??

Please can you help?

Im not sure where he was born? However i believe he was born in 1873 and died in 1929, i have his death certificate.

I know that his dad was Fred Goldspink.....as per his marriage certificate to Charlotte? But cannot find anything on him....?

Charles Goldspink lived and died in Croydon, he was married to my Great Grandma Charlotte Brammer/Adcock.
I have found a Goldspink Family, that lived in the same road as Charles later on, an address which became my grandads family home, Charles Adcock....i believe that Charles could be my Grandads true father, however not sure if that family are related, but think they are, census 1871??

Really feel that i have hit a brick wall.....hope you can hep!!!!!

Please read the Tips for Newbies.

As long as you can buy a certificate for more information you do not have a brick wall, particularly with a name this unusual. Buy the certificate which people have kindly found you the ref for £7 from GRO online.

If you need to find birth, marriages or deaths between 1837 and1920ish, you can look up the GRO ref yourself at freebmd.org

Are you basing the 1871 find on this birth

How would you know it was the right family.

I doubt very much if they would be living in the same street from 1871 to the 1920's

You need a copy of the marriage certificate to find out exactly when Charles was born.

Is it your family tree on Ancestry?

If so then you will not find him on 1871 census if the age at death is correct

"As Tina has said she 'knows' the father was Fred.........I assumed that she has the marriage cert"

People always say that, when you ask how they know, it's often because somebody else (often unconnected to the family) told them!

I assumed she hadn't got it as she didn't mention how old Charles was.

Tina, please answer some of our questions!

My gr grandfather, followed by one of his sons lived in the same road (probably same house but numbers changed once) from at least 1881 to the late 1920s so occasionally it happens that they do stay in one place.

(To counterbalance this one of my other gr grandfather's lived at a different address on every record I have of him - and I have a few!)

I do have the marriage cert....married my Grt Grandma in 1924, and yes his father was fred goldspink.......my family tree is not on ancestory....Charles according to the marriage cert is 1873......its very strange to find goldspinks living at the same road and to not be related, goldspink seems to be a not familiar name! 1873 is based on his marriage in 1924 making him 51?? hope all the above helps all those that have replied and i thank you all!! Occupation of Charles and his father from the marriage cert would be useful.

Tina

Tina Report 20 Aug 2008 23:17

sorry 1873 being his DOB.

Jill,

Yes it can happen.

My gt grandparents lived in the same house from 1902 to 1959. Got numerous certs with the same address on - from births, marriages and deaths.

yes it is suggested that Charles was a bachelor, however i know that by finding other members of family on gene's that doesnt mean anything!! ;-)

Goldspink is a fairly common name in Norfolk actually :)

And the place of residence on the marriage cert was Croydon, yes? Who were the witnesses at the marriage?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 20 Aug 2008 23:31

1901 this one is already married

Rule this one out. Tree on Ancestry claims parents of William and Mary Ann

That one doesnt have a father called Fred, Glitter.

In fact I cant find one in the 1881 born c1873 with a dad called Fred. Or a Fred Goldspink anywhere in 1871??
