I suspect that New Lane became New Street but you'd have to check back through old maps. The Black Dog has the address of London Road so it's not likely to be that, I don't think. Their death certificate would possibly tell you. |

Looked through all the originals for Oadby on 1861 and although there are several pubs named on High Street there wasn't one named on New Lane. Directly following New Lane was 'Black Dog Lane' so as a long shot it could be there was a pub called the Black Dog, but it's no where near a reliable deduction. |

I'll have a scan through the Oadby images and see if I can find the pub. |

I wasn't sure if Glitter Baby had gone to bed so I had a look for you. I can't find either of them on the 1861. |

If the name of a pub had been mentioned on 1851 then I would have named it as I had to view the image to find out address and occupation |

William appears to be the only Thornton in Oadby during the 1841 unless they've been badly mistranscribed. Although, I see that Blaby is the reg district so that one of Jacquelines could be them and she could be visiting family? |
