Dear Members

My Dad never has met his father. He is around 46, unfortunately we do not speak. But I am interested in finding out what happened to his dad, whether he is alive or sadly passed away.

The gent which we do not know the name of as my Nan will not speka of him may have other families or children. My dad was born in Barnstaple so I am assuming he would of been in that area of somerset 46 years ago.

Surname is Gammon. My dad is called Apache Ty Gammon and mother Margaret but I do not know he maiden name but she did remarry later in her life to saunden(Spelling Unknown)

The family is very confusing i.e. not sure of their roots but if anyone would like to view my tree to see whether they may have a like please request.

Thanks

Shane Baker
(Previously Gammon)

Apache T Gammon 1962 sept qt Chard gro ref 7c 157. Mother Symons

If you get the birth cert it will have your grandfathers name

That seems to have helped already. Was there a father on the birth certificate. Do you know whether Margarate Symons married anyone in the name of Gammon??

Thank you so much

You will only get the fathers name by buying the cert.
I have checked for a marriage in 1959-1963.

Shane Report 8 Sep 2008 03:25

How do you go about buying the cert. I dont want to buy it if its for the wrong person or doesnt have the fathers name on it, which is something my name may have done

Has your dad got older siblings, I am trying to narrow down a date for a possible marriage for his parents

Battenburg Report 8 Sep 2008 03:36

I dont think it will be the wrong person Apache T Gammon is unusual

You can order the birth cert online with a credit card from General Register Office using the ref no I gave you.
They wont give you any details about a fathers name Im afraid. You have to pay for the cert. Not sure if you have to give information but mothers name Margaret Symons should be enough.

Do you have your nan's age? This will limit how far we can trace back for the marrriage

Marriage

Gordon H. Gammon - Margaret J. Symons
1955 Q1 7a 596 Barnstaple

Shane,
now what I have to say next may not be what you want to hear/read but it is said with the best intentions.
You have made known both your dad's and nan's feelings on this but in order for you to continue I think you need to talk to them if at least to let them know what you are doing.

Ah, okay!

No crossover between the threads yet. ;)

For reference if needed, this is the thread with info about Shane's other side, Coombes-Kennedy.

There don't seem to be the same familial complexities there, I hope.

If gordon gammon has died, that was my grandad which is disappointing as I could have met him as I was 15 how sad.

So I know when he married, I know when he died. can I find out where he was born at all

So If my grandad has died Gordon Gammon how do I do about finding out where he is buried where he died. As he may have left letters with his willing for his kids... he could even have another family

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Sep 2008 05:02

Yep that looks like him Looking for a marriage for Gammon and Huxtable

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Sep 2008 05:04

Gordon was born 20th dec 1927. He would therefore be registered in 1928 the mar qt but his date of birth will still be 1927. You have 6 weeks to register a birth Being as it was near to Christmas the family would wait till after Christmas

If you get Gordons death cert the informant might be a relative
