Hi Debirah,

Found both that brother plus another one James, bad news is they have passed on :O(
At the moment it looks like Collette Degnan, has become a Griffin/Duncan/Cooper before 1964.
Now we have to find her after this : O)

Thanks for finding that info Deborah - I've now found the birth of the Colette Griffin who married Malcom Duncan in 1962 and it confirms her mother's maiden name as Astin.

Colette Griffin mmn Astin 1945 Q3 Dewsbury 9b 676

I may be wrong but it looks like 2 different people? We have Ruby Astin married to Edward Griffin in 1940 daughter Colette Griffin born 1945.

Ruby Griffin nee Astin then remarries to John P Degnan in 1954 when Colette is 9 years old.

Colette Degnan/Griffin (born Griffin but using stepfathers name) marrys Malcolm Duncan in 1962.

This Colette above consistently has only one L in her name, whereas the posters mother Collette is spelt with 2 L's as per the marriage I posted last night:
Collette Degnan to Albert E Harrison 1955 Q1 Dewsbury 2b 749

What do others think?

Hi I have noticed the spelling of Collette or Colette and think I would buy this death cert just to see who the informant was.

Name: Collette Harrison
Birth: 14 Dec 1936 ( onlt 1 Collette born at this time)
Death: Jan 1989 - Leeds, Yorkshire

Collette Degnan mother's maiden name Eggett
Mar 1937

I think what has happened John, is that there are two Collettes and the researchers are trying to work out which one is your mother. I will send one of them a private message to get back to you. Hope this helps.

Hi John sorry to have confused you but there seems to be 2 Collette Degnans. One was born Collette Degnan in 1936 and the other was born Colette Griffin in 1945 and she had a stepdad who was a Degnan. It is this Colette ( Griffin/ Degnan ) that married a Malcom Duncan.

You say your mum was born in 1936, does your birth certificate spell her name Collette with 2 Ls or one?

Please get in touch again and tell us all that you know, even a small thing may help. When was the last time you saw your mum?

Did your dad ever talk about her and her family?

Regards
