I think Christine found this match as well but then wasn't sure because she found children born after 1918.

I think first step is to view the marriage cert and then work on from that.

There's no way of knowing for sure unless you buy the cert, it would show his father's name so if that matched your details then it would be the John Walker you're after. If you bought it from the Stoke on Trent register office and explain that you're not sure if it's the couple you want but that if his father is shown as William then it is - I'm sure they would only provide the cert if that did match up.

The other way is if you're close enough to go and look at the Parish records and see the entry in the register that way.

I've had a look through the indexes and while there are a couple of John Walker's getting married in the Stoke on Trent area I can't see any that match up with an Annie.

Am I right in saying that Burslem would be part of Stoke on Trent because if so I don't think either of the marriages I found would be him, but that's on FreeBMD so the records aren't complete.

It's more then possible that she remarried after he died.

I'll have another look see what I can turn up.

Ruth i would have to say if they didnt move straight to upper hadderidge burslem then they might have lived in reid street .

what do you think the likely hood is she might have re-married once john died

Ruth

Ruth Report 17 Sep 2008 10:50

Don't think it was the marriage to Pugh as there were children after 1918.

Not sure about the marraige to Moore either as there are children showing up after 1918 but not all the births are in the same area. Do you know where your Nan's brother lived when he was married?
