Your aunt may have some certs. Check with her. If she knows they are Richard & Matilda the best way to go is to get the marriage cert through GRO.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Tick that you have the ref number. Only pay £7.There seems to be a difference in page numbers for Richard & Matilda. I'll just check the image.

No, I don't think we've found your Richard yet. All transcribed records are a problem. In the case of census & bmd they are transcribed at LEAST twice; from original handwriting to clerk then probably another clerk then the people who transcribe the records for the online data.

You'll find him but I think you need to get the cert if your aunt doesn't have it. That will give you Richard's father's name & occupation & then you'll be able to find him on the census.

Page number is 360, on Matilda's record the number is smudged but I'm sure it's a 6 rather than a 3.

Don't hesitate to ask questions. We all started from nothing & the people on these boards are very willing to help.

Hmmm. Looks like this Richard was a twin. Is that a possibility?

If you know the Martin side of the family, then when & where was Matilda born?

They seem to live in the same area for a while perhaps she may lead you to his family.
