Sorry Ozibird, I was mixed up .

It's so strange that there doesn't seem to be one on the census that fits, either before 1881 or after.

And no tace of William either.

In 1881 there were 2 William Parker's of around the same age but the other one with parents.

Avril,

Where did you find out that your William was the one in the workhouse and that his middle name was Stanley?

The only thing I can think of is to get his marriage cert to Doris to see if that gives any more clues.

What year was their first child born?

Christine, the only other Mary Ann Parker I can find born about the same time is married to a John, & either of these is probably her.

Marriages Mar 1876
BRAY Mary Ann Bedminster 5c 975
DOWELL Mary Ann Bedminster 5c 975
Hall George Bedminster 5c 975
PARKER John Bedminster 5c 975

i think all the archives are held at the taunton registry office relating to inmates and kids of the bedminster work house and as i dont know when mary entered the workhouse i dont even know wether louisa and william were born there or if she entered the work house with them i suspect because william was the youngest he could have been born there but i just dont know when i looked at the inmates register it just saays that mary louisa and william were born in bedminsterbut it doesnt say anything else

I also found that death and wondered about it.

I don't think that birth for Mary Ann is the correct one as I tried to find her on the census and am sure she was still around in 1881.

I am having trouble at the moment getting on Ancestry.

On the Bedminster workhouse site it says records are held of births in the workhouse, maybe you could find something from the archives.

Because part of Bedminster is in Bristol perhaps this may be Louisa.

Births Sep 1874
PARKER Louisa Bristol 6a 18

I know this isn't the right age, but ...

Deaths Sep 1887
Parker Louisa 11 Bedminster 5c 398

ozi it is a possibility but i thought her name was just mary apart from the bedminster workhouse 1881 census i havent found him or his family anywhere else louisa is puzzling me a bit as after the 1881 census she just doesnt seem toexist there isnt any birth or death records for her either

Ozibird Report 17 Oct 2008 20:41

Is this a possibility?

Births Sep 1854

You descend from William. Have you found him on another census?

Well done, Christine & Avril. What a sigh of relief.

It does look like he died of a broken heart & what a LOT older he was.

I have found him.

1951 Q1 Bury st. Edmonds 4g 1434 age 76

Just listed as William, no S.

This age ties in with the one from the workhouse and the birth ref you were given for him.

Avril Parker

Avril Parker Report 16 Oct 2008 19:06

thats where i draw a blank cos thw william in the work house fits the mary and louisa in my family but he would have been too old as you said but the only william stanley parker i could find would have been born around 1886 too so i dont know thankyou for finding my nans details for me

ChristineinPortugal Report 16 Oct 2008 16:07

I have found the death reg of Doris

1947 Apr/May/Jun qtr age 36 Bury St. Edmonds 4b 685

Have searched 1948-1950 inclusive and not found a William or William S in same district.

If you think that William is the one born in the workhouse he was a lot older than Doris as she must have been born 1911 and him 1876.

Avril Parker Report 16 Oct 2008 13:33

i have just been told from an unknown source that my nan (doris) parker died in 1947 in bury st edmonds and i remember being told that after doris died william died of a broken heart soon after but i have been told that william married and divorced before he met and married doris and that they had a son together

ChristineinPortugal

ChristineinPortugal Report 16 Oct 2008 10:37

Do you know when he married Doris and when he died, his age will be given on death registration and we can work back from that.

Avril Parker Report 16 Oct 2008 10:23

the only william stanley parker which is my grandfathers name isnt linked as far as i could see to either mary or louisa but one thing i do know for sure is my grandfather is called william stanley parker

ChristineinPortugal

ChristineinPortugal Report 15 Oct 2008 23:31

When did William Parker marry Doris Walker?

Do you know when he died?

The William in the workhouse wasn't William Stanley according to the records.

You are going to have to work backwards from facts which you know are correct.
