I would suggest that you start by getting you granny's birth cert & confirm her parents names & work backwards from there.

If & only if the family found on the 1901 census turn out to be your family, you could be looking for more than just one sibling. The first was born 1899 or 1900, they normally produced about every 2 years & with a name like Bell & moving around the UK you're not going to be able to trace the ones born between 1901 & 1911 unless you have lottery money.

I found this on scots 1901 census but no Margaret it could possibly be them and maybe Margaret was born after 1901 census in scotland and that could be the reason you cant find her birth reg details.
just a thought.

lol i know claire bell is a very very common name i shall do as you say an order my nana's birth cert i was going to anywere just havnt got any money at the moment certainly no where near lottery funds!! lol i wish! im sure we all do lol thankyou for the reply

Scotland you can view the registrations online & each one will cost you £1.20.

I did a load of stuff for a Canadian cousin & managed to get her back about 70 years for £6 but it was a more unusual name than Bell!
