Thank you so much Linda for your help.

Having rechecked with my dad, I think St Clare may have been the establishment rather than the town. I do know he lieved in Pontypridd when he was married to Mary Jane as that was where my grandad Walter was born in 1902/3.

I guess this is the fun of tracing Welsh ancestory!

appreciatively

The nearest possible birth I can find for Mary Jane Davies b1876 is....

Name: Mary Jane Davies
Year of Registration: 1877
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: St Asaph
County: Denbighshire, Flintshire

Abergele comes under the registration district of St Asaph.

There are also births in 1878,1879 and 1880.

Holywell is not far from Abergele.

Whereabout is St Claires ?

My 3x and 4x gt grandfathers were both William Williams....enough said lol.

FreeBMD is a site where you can look up births, marriages and deaths which have been transcribed from the index and you can just put in a name and date and it brings up any results. Free BMD goes from 1837 to about the mid 1920's but it is not complete. Worth looking at first as it is quicker than searching the complete index.

Unfortunately for you there are dozens of marriages between a William Williams and a Mary Davies at about the time they would be likely to get married.

Do you know when and where the first of their children was born?

Have just started tracing family lines and haven't quite got the hang of the searches yet! Could anybody spare some time to give me a jump start by tracing great grandparents:
William Williams born 1876 St Claires, Wales
Mary Jane Davies born 1876 Abergele, Wales (died 1920).
Would be greatly appreciated.
