I understand you like brick walls, well I have one for you!

Mary Jane Luxton c1869 was supposedly born in Southampton, as this appears on all the census records thereon...

However, in 1871 aged 2, she was living in Glastonbury with parents, John Luxton (born Crediton c1829) and Elizabeth unknown,(born St Blazey c1828),and brother John, (1862 Southampton) - reading between the lines, they had just come from Exeter. (1861 shows John Luxton snr married, sailor, living in Exeter, but no sign of wife Elizabeth).

By 1881, Mary's brother John (c1862) was in the Royal Navy (have his naval records giving date of birth - states Exeter - and death, but still cannot find either. He was on board the HMS Brontes, but I cannot find where this ship docked, where the records should be held.

1881 Mary was living with mother in Southampton, father was elsewhere;.

1889 married James Channell in Southampton

and so forth.

If you wish to get your teeth into this one Michelle, I will willingly open my tree for you to view.

I cannot find Mary Jane's birth, which in turn would lead me to her mother Elizabeth in St Blazey, where there are untold records online!!

I have even sent this query to Practical Family History magazine for help, but they could only suggest that the place of birth registered in Southampton for both children could have been because the father was a sailor at the time of their births... but still not found.

The 'possible' Thomas and Myra Blane on the 1891 census must be the same Thomas .... in 1881 Thomas and Jane were living at 80 Greenall Road ................. which is the same address as Thomas & Myra !

Had oodles of children.

I have found a William WAY bn 1797 convict in Tasmania, transported 1845. I want to see if he 'disappears' by 1851 census.
