Well, I've only been doing this for about two years but I'm completely hooked!

I haven't touched my own tree for ages, been too busy being nosy about everybody elses!

I'm actually meant to be looking after my daughter who has got a cold and is off school...she would have had more attention if she'd gone............!

Dea

Dea Report 18 Nov 2008 15:29

Me too ! (about my own tree I mean) - about 3 years in my case!

Actually, she's given up and gone to bed...in my bed that is...so I'll have to move her later on!

I'm not sure where Anthony's gone but we'll have to apologize for highjacking his thread! Hope he comes back to read the progress.

Right, I'm off now to solve another mystery, so I'll probably meet you somewhere else!! This must be the 1st time I've managed to find some info that's actually useful!

Hi Dea, i'm a bit confused over the bit where it says ethel harris (formerly childs) i know we have a childs in the family but i thought that my grandad was married to her first or so it seems going by what you found out earlier. i'll look thru the whole thread and see what i can come up with.

Firstly Ethel Carter married Herbert Childs:

Marriages Jun 1915
Carter Ethel Childs Edmonton 3a 1575
Childs Herbert Carter Edmonton 3a 1575

Then Herbert died:
Deaths Jun 1917
Childs Herbert 23 Bedford 3b 359

Then Ethel (Childs) married Anthony A Harris:
Marriage of Anthony A Harris with Childs, Barnet 3a 1120 J-S 1920

Full info on all of these is on the thread!

On the cwgc site the info if mostly added by relatives after the event. - this info was obviously added after Ethel had re-married and become a 'Harris' - so 'Harris, formerley Childs (and, although not stated - nee Carter).
