Sylvia, that's great. So Philip jnr was likely an only child and his father ran away after his mother's death, leaving Philip jnr with his dead wife's mother.

Right, so I'm going to need a travel record for the early 1850's from England to Oz, though I'm not sure you can get records that far back? And Helen found him working as a Clerk in Sydney in 1867.

Any ideas of how I can find out if he remarried in Oz?

Many thanks for all the help.

Karen

Could this be the reason why Philip Sr went to Oz and left his son behind?????

Hi Everyone,

I'm researching Philip Dive and his wife Selina Watts. I have their marriage in London in 1846. I can't find anything for Philip after this. Philip was born in England c1818 +/-8years and apparently was the son of Anthony Philip Dive. The IGI has a submitted record saying Philip died in Australia and his son, also Philip appears to be in England since about 1873, as he married here.

Can anyone please help me fill in the gaps? Did Philip go to Australia with his wife and die there. Was his son, Philip, his only child? When did Philip jnr return, if he ever went at all?

Any help very much appreciated. Karen
