the reason i have said john bellamy and he changed his name possibly is that in the 1861 census he is the right age from exeter and a seamon on a ship and there was no other john bellamys born in exeter 5 years either side of 1821 so it must be the same person but why change your name?

ChristineinPortugal Report 6 Dec 2008 18:20

She's the wife of Matthew as it is his name at the top of the heading.

William is then down as their child.

Christine

Robin

Robin Report 6 Dec 2008 18:18

but why is she on the form as a wife?

ChristineinPortugal

ChristineinPortugal Report 6 Dec 2008 18:14

It's not William Thomas Bellamy who had the wife Mary in the 1st post by Kathleen, it's Matthew Bellamy.

William is the son of Matthew and Mary.
