Dea.
You will enjoy reading the forum I mentioned and the things the local kids got up to raiding the rubbish bins for broken toffee

Hi,

Not very helpful, I know, but could I just say what memories you have brought back for me.!!

Hollands toffee - my favourites - treacle and also brasil nut!!!

Donkeys years ago it was a special treat - it came in it's own metal tray with a special 'strong metal' toffee hammer - you had to hammer it out and break it up for yourself with the hammer - I collected many of them!

It was far more fun than unwrapping a soft soggy caramel from a bit of foil/paper which we do now!

YYYYYYYYYUuuuuuuuuuuuumm!!

Dea x

Forgive the intrusion on your thread but I could 'taste' that toffee memory!

I have been looking at Southport forum from July 2008 talking about Hollands toffee.
One member said he went to school with 2 of Mr Hollands sons John and he thought Julian but later found he was Peter
Then later in the forum John Holland jr added He mentions uncle Peter. I
I think you need to go to the site as others have added who are related. There is also photo's of the Holland Toffee factory
John Holland jr is toffee 225
